College Basketball Betting: Analyzing the Big West Conference

College basketball betting fans will take note that only three of the conference’s nine teams had winning pointspread records last season. Straight up (SU), against the spread (ATS), and over/under (O/U) records for the 2007/08 season are in parentheses:

 

CAL STATE-NORTHRIDGE (20-10 SU, 10-13 ATS, 9-14 O/U): All-leaguers Tremaine Townsend and Deon Tresvant could lead the team to a second straight regular season title.

Home Underdog:  0-0

Away Favorite:  1-2

Away Underdog:  5-4

Sportsbook Buster: The Matadors were 6-11 ATS in games following a SU win last season.

UC SANTA BARBARA (23-9 SU, 12-17-1 ATS, 12-18 O/U): The Gauchos return three starters and again should be in the Big West title hunt.

LONG BEACH STATE (6-25 SU, 14-14-1 ATS, 15-14 O/U): Donovan Morris (21.2 PPG) is one of five returning starters eyeing a turnaround.
